Omni Bus Services has delivered its final manufactured bus, officially concluding its long history of bus manufacturing. Bus number 426, the last bus built by the family-owned company, was handed over from Omni Bus Services’ Canning Vale facility during a gathering of industry colleagues and long-time supporters.
Attendees at this milestone included Ken Gillam and Wayne Pryor from Omni Bus Services, Adrian Boeve from Truck Centre (WA) Pty Ltd, Ben Doolan, James McCabe, and John Ditchburn from BusWA, and Lloyd Shepherdson, the proud new owner of bus 426.
Reflecting on the journey, Wayne Pryor, who has been with Omni Bus Services from the beginning, reminisced about the early days. “Looking back at photos from when we delivered our 100th and 200th buses, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come,” he said. He fondly recalled the humble beginnings, sharing, “Once upon a time, we used to build buses in our spare time with nothing more than a wooden hammer, and each one took about six weeks to complete.”
Today, although Omni Bus Services has concluded its bus manufacturing operations, the company continues to serve the transportation industry at its Canning Vale facility on 20 Coulson Way. Their team specializes in bus fit-outs, conversions, repairs, and maintenance, offering expertise in everything from minor dent and scratch repairs to major accident restorations.
While the era of manufacturing has closed, Ken Gillam and the Omni Bus Services team look forward to maintaining their role as a trusted, family-run leader in WA’s transport industry, staying true to their roots while evolving with the industry’s needs.
